Hipstamatic is free (iPhone). A real spring surprise from Synthetic studio, developers of the Hipstamatic app, which has become legendary among connoisseurs of high-quality retro photos. The free Disposable app is a modification of Hipstamatic in the style of a disposable film camera, where the corresponding effects and design are available, as well as an interesting addition – when the “film” runs out, photo cards are automatically sent to the friends you have specified as recipients.

Hipstamatic is one of those programs we’ve been meaning to write about for a long time, but could never decide: either we had other urgent news or got lazy. But today we decided to finally pull ourselves together and tell you about this wonderful photo-toy. We have been using it for a long time and the number of great pictures taken with it has exceeded a hundred. We are not the only ones who are happy with the program, we are thousands of App Store customers, otherwise Hipstamatic would not have been awarded the title of the best program of the year for iPhone.

What is the main function of Hipstamatic? It’s another photo processor that stylizes your photos to match your technique. To be honest, all the other programs look like “another photo processor” compared to Hipstamatic. As rightly pointed out by the critics who praised the program of the year, it combines not only great quality of processing effects, but also a pretty design with a touch of vintage cameras. You’ll notice it the first time you run the program:

The developers have managed to create a wonderful interface of the program: working with Hipstamatic, you feel that extraordinary indescribable pleasure that occurs when you pick up an old camera. It makes you want to click all the buttons to see what happens in the end 🙂

Let’s get back to the interface. If you ask “well, how do you take pictures with this?”, we hasten to reassure you – it’s not a shooting screen, but the Hipstamatic properties screen. It allows you to customize your virtual camera in any way you like. Note the screenshot above – it shows the front of the camera. It is logical to assume that there will also be a back, but about it a little later.

The number 185 at the top of the screen stands for… the software version. The developers have also decided to show off: instead of the traditional designations like 1.0, 1.1, 1.2 Hipstamatic offers a completely weird version numbering system – a three-digit number which goes up by 5 with every new version update. For example, the last version of the program was number 180.

In the center of your camera is the lens (think about it :). In fact, it’s not just one, it’s an entire menu. All the available lenses can be selected with a horizontal swipe – move it left-right, and the lens changes. By tapping on the lens, you get to know the properties of the lens and see a picture with an example of a photo taken with it.
